As a Manual Lathe Operator, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality components that meet our clients' specifications.ResponsibilitiesGeneral Purpose of This Position:Program and set-up lathes/millsLoad, align, and operate machine per work order instructionsInstall and adjust chucks, tools, attachments, etc.Prepare tooling for changeovers and perform machine changeovers.Ability to interpret dimensions and tolerancesAbility to accurately use and interpret measuring equipmentMaintain specifications by observation and measuring equipmentConsistent output of accurate partsEnsure work area is clean and safeRoadwork/Installation at customer site as deemed necessary by managementPerform additional tasks as deemed necessary by managementMust attend required meetings at specified locationQualifications and Skills:Show professionalism through maturity, dependability, and a positive attitudePeople skills, including ability to communicate effectively and listen activelyKeen sense of attention to detailPossess organizational skillsAbility to work alone as well as with othersSelf-starter with the ability to take on multiple projectsSkilled in establishing priorities and managing workload on a daily basisGreat attendance and punctualityEducation Requirements:Two-year technical college degree in Machine ToolPrior work experience will be consideredPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE) RequirementsAlways o Foot Protection (Steel Toe Footwear)o Eye Protectiono Ear Protection in Hearing Required Areas, Occasionally in Hearing Recommended AreasOccasionally o Hand Protection o Face ProtectionPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and work waist to shoulder. The employee is occasionally required to walk, bend, twist/pivot (neck/waist), and reach. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70#. It is very seldom that the employee will be required to squat/kneel/crawl, climb stairs/ladder, work over shoulder, or work floor to waist. The employee will frequently use a lathe, blue prints, and the use of measuring equipment including, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, tape measure, CMM, and various gauges. The employee will occasionally use hand tools.Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. A shop experience is typical in this position. The employee will work indoors and very rarely be required to work outdoors.
