Instructional Technology Coach (ITC) 12 Months
Under the supervision of the Technology department, this position provides instructional support and technical assistance to promote innovative and effective learning environments based on research-based best practices in instruction. The Instructional Technology Coach (ITC) assists in the identification of appropriate resources which complement the schools' instructional programs, provides professional learning opportunities, collaborates with instructional staff, and supports division instructional goals. The ITC also supports the work of the Technology department in the implementation, management, and support of instructional technology throughout the division.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a bachelor's degree, required. A valid Virginia teacher certificate, required. Five years of exceptional teaching experience and/or combined ITC experience, required. Advanced technical proficiency in the use of Windows OS, iOS, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Office 365, Web Publishing software and various instructional software programs. Experience in coaching, professional development, and/or school leadership, preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Technology Support: Troubleshoot variety of technologies including, but not limited to laptops, iPads, projectors, instructional programs and software, and other student and teacher devices. Support implementation and management of instructional technology devices and programs.
- Change Agent: Create a shared vision and culture for using technology to learn. Facilitate equitable use of digital learning tools and content. Cultivate a supportive coaching culture.
- Connected Learner: Model professional learning that deepens personal expertise for educators and leaders. Actively participate in professional learning networks to enhance coaching practice and keep current with emerging technology and innovations in pedagogy and the learning sciences. Establish shared goals with educators, reflect on successes and continually improve coaching and teaching practice.
- Collaborator: Collaborate with instructional leaders to determine appropriate use of instructional technology. Establish trusting and respectful coaching relationships. Partner with educators to identify digital learning content that is culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and aligned to content standards. Partner with educational leaders to evaluate the efficacy of digital learning content and tools. Plan and model the effective use of technology to improve student learning.
- Learning Designer: Collaborate with educators to develop authentic, active learning experiences that foster student agency, deepen content mastery and allow students to demonstrate their competency. Help educators use digital tools to create effective assessments. Collaborate with educators to design accessible and active digital learning environments.
- Professional Learning Facilitator: Design professional learning based on needs assessments and frameworks for working with adults to support learning needs. Build capacity of educators, leaders, and instructional teams to put the ISTE Standards into practice by facilitating active learning and providing meaningful feedback. Evaluate impact of professional learning and continually make improvements.
- Data-Driven Decision-Maker: Assist educators and leaders in securely collecting and analyzing student data. Support educators to interpret qualitative and quantitative data to inform their decisions and support individual student learning. Partner with educators to empower students to use learning data to set their own goals and measure their progress. Model and support the use of qualitative and quantitative data to guide instruction and professional learning.
- Digital Citizen Advocate: Partner with educators, leaders, students, and families to foster a culture of respectful online interactions and a healthy balance in their use of technology. Support educators and students to critically examine the sources of online media and identify underlying assumptions. Empower educators, leaders, and students to make informed decisions to protect their personal data and curate the digital profile they intend to reflect.
