CNC Lathe Machinist – 2nd Shift (2:20 pm – 11:00 pm Monday‑Friday) About this position The CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for the manufacture of parts per plant specifications in an accurate and timely manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up, edit and operate CNC lathes. Inspect completed parts to ensure conformance to specifications. Clean work area. Remove tooling, fixturing, and return inspection equipment to proper area. Perform minor machine maintenance (e.g., greasing, oiling). Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Proficient using hand measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, etc.). Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications and routings. Ability to operate and adjust offsets; setup experience preferred, but not necessary. Ability to edit fanuc control programs, G code and M code. Strong mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing). Perform metric conversions. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to true in jaws. Good mechanical aptitude and/or prior machinist experience a plus. Preferred Skills and Experience Work in a fast‑paced environment. Communicate with all levels of the organization. Multi‑task, establish priorities, set aggressive goals and achieve them. Open to work overtime as necessary. Experience with two‑axis or four‑axis/live tooling. Adjust taper on OD, ID, face. Experience with tailstock and steady rests. Check pin size over threads. Knowledge of bore gauges. Add extra passes to OD, bore or face if necessary. Experience on Mori Seiki, Daewoo, Danichi, Doosan Puma machines is a plus. Physical Demands Employees will occasionally walk, use foot to operate machine, reach above shoulders and move places. They will regularly stand, sit, talk, and listen, and frequently use hands to finger, handle, or touch. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
