Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Peds Clinic

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in a rheumatology clinic setting. The role involves administering medications, preparing necessary equipment, and assisting healthcare providers in the treatment of patients.

Responsibilities:

Deliver nursing care following the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, employing the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families.
Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness; document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education, identifying pertinent issues and resources.
Utilize critical thinking to assess physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and families.
Communicate findings to appropriate healthcare team members and develop a specific plan of care, modifying it as needed to meet patient needs.
Implement patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitor and document progression of treatment and educational goals.
Evaluate provided care and treatment, reassessing and documenting patient responses in a timely manner.
Anticipate and plan for admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate patient flow.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, demonstrating good stewardship.
Incorporate safety practices and guidelines to promote a safe environment and achieve positive patient outcomes.
Participate in nursing research and quality improvement activities while providing evidence-based nursing care.
Follow established clinical policies and standards, ensuring organizational compliance and assisting in the development of procedures.
Maintain accurate and efficient documentation through both paper and electronic systems.
Describe and ensure proper functioning of medical equipment and educate patients on home medical equipment use.
Process medical orders accurately, identifying and correcting common errors as needed.
Read and interpret patient charts accurately, recognizing and addressing any discrepancies.
Ensure patient safety by adhering to safety guidelines specific to various patient groups.

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Completion of a Nurse Residency Program.
Six (6) months to twelve (12) months of clinical patient care experience in a relevant setting.
RN license in good standing in Texas or a compact state, if applicable.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.

Work Schedule:

This position requires full-time work, consisting of five (5) days per week, with eight (8) hours each day.
