Electromechanical Assembler

Assembler Service Department

This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and assembling products that return from the field to the service department. You receive and evaluate products, review customer complaints, follow documented service procedures in the computer system, and perform diagnostics, repairs, and assembly using basic hand and power tools. You support product performance by conducting calibrations and variable testing with specialized equipment to ensure each unit meets required specifications.

Responsibilities

• Receive returned products from the field and review customer complaints to understand reported issues.
• Open and follow the correct service procedures for each product model using the computer system.
• Perform diagnostics on products to identify faults and determine appropriate repair actions.
• Carry out repairs as needed, including replacing components and reassembling units according to documented procedures.
• Notify and collaborate with a technician when additional support is needed for complex diagnostics.
• Perform soldering tasks, primarily soldering new power jacks onto boards, with on-the-job training provided if needed.
• Replace entire boards when board-level issues are identified, rather than attempting detailed board repairs.
• Perform assembly operations at a work station using basic hand tools and power tools.
• Conduct calibrations and variable testing using oscilloscopes and gilibrators to verify flow rates and other performance parameters.
• Use judgment during testing and calibration to ensure products conform to specifications and quality standards.
• Work under a microscope as needed to handle small components and perform precise assembly or soldering tasks.
• Follow detailed written work instructions and verbal guidance to complete assembly, diagnostics, and repair activities.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical issues to restore products to proper working condition.

Essential Skills

• At least one year of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably with mechanical assembly experience.
• Hands-on experience as a mechanical assembler, electronic assembler, or in electro-mechanical assembly.
• Ability to perform soldering tasks or willingness to learn soldering on the job, particularly for installing new power jacks onto boards.
• Experience using basic hand tools and electric power tools in an assembly or repair setting.
• Ability to work under a microscope to assemble or repair small components.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving mechanical and electro-mechanical issues.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed written procedures and work instructions.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately and ask for clarification when needed.
• Comfort working with oscilloscopes and other test equipment, or willingness to learn, to perform calibrations and variable testing.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to manipulate small objects and components safely and precisely.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a very clean, well-organized, and well-lit production and service environment. You work at your own dedicated work bench equipped with all necessary tools, parts, and test equipment, including basic hand and power tools, microscopes, oscilloscopes, and gilibrators. The culture is laid back and collaborative, allowing you to focus on quality work while easily reaching out to technicians for support when needed. The setting is typical of a production and manufacturing service department, emphasizing safety, organization, and precision in daily tasks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
