Application Engineer

$70 per hour

Kforce has a client in Salt Lake City, UT that is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to support the design, deployment, optimization, and maintenance of modern application platforms and infrastructure. This role will focus on containerized environments, cloud technologies, application performance, and platform reliability. The ideal candidate combines DevOps, platform engineering, and application support expertise with a passion for building scalable, secure, and highly available systems.

3+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Systems Administration, or Application Engineering
Experience deploying, maintaining, and scaling enterprise applications
Hands-on experience with containers, Kubernetes, and Helm
Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, or similar tools
Experience with application monitoring and observability platforms
General cloud platform knowledge
Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, and load balancing
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of security fundamentals, including certificates, TLS, and secrets management
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Neo4j or other graph database technologies
Experience with Kubernetes distributions such as RKE2, OpenShift, or similar platforms
Experience with cloud platforms, particularly GCP
Experience with Container Storage Interface (CSI) implementations, such as Portworx
Experience supporting cloud migration initiatives
Familiarity with Splunk, AppDynamics, or similar monitoring tools
Exposure to API management platforms and gateway technologies
