Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 18 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Neuroscience Registered Nurse – North Carolina Start Date: September 14, 2026 Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week, every other weekend required, 1:6 patient ratio Highlights: Specialized neuroscience unit caring primarily for stroke patients, epilepsy, traumatic brain injuries, subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses 42-bed unit with approximately 50 daily census; includes a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) 13 to 26-week contract assignments available with 36 hours of structured orientation Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and physical therapy Floating may be required to other Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units based on facility needs Requirements: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year of direct Medical/Surgical experience (required) Previous travel nursing experience required; must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts Active RN license in North Carolina or Compact state license BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias Experience with neuroscience patient populations strongly preferred Must pass EKG testing prior to assignment start date Completion of 8-10 hours of pre-start online modules required (non-billable) Why It's a Great Opportunity: This position offers registered nurses the opportunity to develop specialized expertise in neuroscience nursing within a high-acuity medical/surgical environment.
