Maintenance Engineer I

Job TitleInvolves checking, repairing and servicing machinery, equipment, systems and infrastructures. Ensure that industrial machinery and equipment runs smoothly and reliably, including preventative maintenance.Responsibilities and DutiesThis information is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Team member may perform other duties as assigned.Set up production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating proceduresAssist engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes, or proceduresCalibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, or ring gaugesKeep production logsProvide production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisorsSet up and verify the functionality of safety equipmentStart up and shut down processing equipmentAdhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental complianceDuties may involve piping fitting; insulating; welding; machining; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning and balancing new equipment.Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting dive, motors, or belts, checking fluid level, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components.Orders parts and supplies from catalogs or suppliers as neededRequests feedback from production team members on the operation of production machineryIdentify and correct safety issues on all equipmentPrioritize work orders and maintenance projectsMaintains a clean and safe work environmentLevel of Supervision ResponsibilityNone.Qualifications2-3 years of relevant experience required, within a food production environment preferredMachine shop safetyMachine shop skills as in welding, fabrication and constructionUnderstanding pneumatics, different types of controls, hydraulics, vacuum systems, refrigerationExperience with general plumbing and building repairIndustrial electrical work: single and three-phase motor controlsAbility to read blueprints and wiring diagramsManage safety devices: lockout, tagout proceduresForklift, manlift or electric scissor lift certification(s) desiredArticulating boom electric lift, Telescopic boom gas lift preferredRequires telephone communications skills, basic math skills, basic reading and writing skillsMust have basic computer skills and internet search skillsMust be available to work any shifts including graveyard and weekend hours if neededMust have a valid driver's licenseTraining scheduled for 8 AM start time with potential to go to 10 AMPhysical ActivitiesRequires mobility. Physical setting may be in office, plant, or warehouse. Requires fine and gross motor control and coordination. Requires working with a variety of machine shop tools, power and hand tools. Requires mobility and some crawling, bending, twisting and climbing. Requires lifting 40 pounds or more occasionally and frequently lifting 20 to 30 pounds. Requires ability to drive between the two manufacturing plants. Involves sitting, standing, walking, and communication abilities. Environment may be loud and dusty at times and may be subject to temperature changes.
