As a Senior Buyer , you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects through the strategic procurement of materials, equipment, and services that support safe, reliable, and sustainable project execution.
This role is responsible for managing the procurement of both engineered and non-engineered materials while balancing cost, quality, schedule, and supplier performance. Acting as a procurement leader and trusted advisor, you will contribute to the development and implementation of project procurement strategies, identify supply market opportunities and risks, and build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers. Your expertise will help strengthen Worley's ability to deliver integrated, data-driven solutions that support our customers throughout the entire asset lifecycle while advancing our sustainability ambitions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the procurement of a broad range of engineered and non-engineered materials and equipment in support of complex capital projects and corporate requirements.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with project objectives, customer expectations, commercial priorities, and Worley's commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes.
- Serve as the lead buyer or procurement subject matter expert for complex purchasing activities, providing guidance throughout the procurement lifecycle.
- Identify supply market opportunities, commercial risks, and sourcing challenges, developing practical solutions that support successful project execution.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, commercial proposals, and technical requirements to achieve the optimal balance of value, quality, delivery, and performance.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, project teams, engineering, construction, project controls, logistics, and other key stakeholders to ensure procurement activities remain aligned with project objectives.
- Lead commercial negotiations, prepare purchase recommendations, and administer purchase orders in accordance with company policies, customer requirements, and ethical business practices.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery commitments, and procurement milestones, proactively addressing issues that may impact project schedules or commercial outcomes.
- Provide procurement expertise during project planning, execution, and closeout, supporting informed decision-making through market intelligence and commercial insight.
- Contribute to supplier development initiatives that strengthen supplier performance, encourage innovation, improve sustainability outcomes, and support responsible sourcing practices.
- Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance procurement processes, systems, and operational efficiency across projects.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to procurement professionals, sharing best practices and supporting capability development across project teams.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated procurement solutions that contribute to successful project delivery and long-term customer value.
- Ensure all procurement activities are performed in accordance with company governance, contractual obligations, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications / Skill SetEducation and Experience
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Engineering, Commerce, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex procurement activities within engineering, energy, chemicals, resources, infrastructure, or major capital project environments.
- Experience procuring both engineered and non-engineered materials and equipment for multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience leading procurement workstreams, providing commercial guidance, and supporting cross-functional project teams.
- Advanced knowledge of procurement principles, strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract administration, and commercial negotiation.
- Strong understanding of project procurement planning, purchasing processes, supplier qualification, bid evaluation, and purchase order management.
- Knowledge of supply chain risk management and the ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate commercial and supply risks.
- Understanding of project delivery methodologies and the interaction between procurement, engineering, construction, logistics, and project controls.
- Strong capability in procurement systems, enterprise resource planning platforms, and digital procurement tools, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and support others in their effective use.
