HELP SHAPE HOW STUDENTS LEARN TO READ.

DIISD is seeking an experienced educator and literacy leader to join our team as an Early Literacy Coach .

In this role, you'll work alongside Pre-K5 educators and administrators to strengthen literacy instruction, develop instructional practices, analyze student data, and provide professional learning that helps teachers and ultimately students succeed.

THE OPPORTUNITY

FULL-TIME | SCHOOL YEAR

Negotiated school calendar and inservice hours under the current Master Agreement

STARTING DATE
Immediately

SALARY

$48,695 $76,495 PER YEAR

Starting wage based on experience and placement on the established Education Association pay grid.

FULL BENEFITS
Including dental and vision insurance fully paid by the district

MODEL BEST PRACTICES

Develop and model high-quality literacy lessons and units that support effective classroom instruction.

USE DATA TO DRIVE INSTRUCTION

Analyze screening, formative, and diagnostic data to help identify student needs and guide instructional decisions.

BUILD EDUCATOR CAPACITY

Design and facilitate collaborative, job-embedded professional learning aligned with MTSS and Michigan's Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy.

ADVANCE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

Help schools implement quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices designed to improve literacy outcomes.

WHAT YOU BRING

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Current or expired teaching certificate

• Bachelor's degree

• Minimum of 5 years of Pre-K5 classroom experience

• Background in English Language Arts and reading

• Advanced coursework in reading preferred

• Master's degree in literacy preferred, or professional development in evidence-based literacy instructional strategies

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Strong knowledge of early literacy components including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension

• Knowledge of current state standards and instructional practices

• Experience using formative, screening, and diagnostic assessment tools

• Ability to use data to guide professional learning and instructional decisions

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Ability to effectively coach educators individually and in group settings

• Ability to use technology to enhance professional learning and coaching

• Valid driver's license
