Clinical Assistant

Clinical Assistant We are seeking a Clinical Assistant for outpatient clinics that provides services for individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their caregivers. The ideal candidate would have customer service experience, with good oral and written communication skills. Spanish/Bilingual speaking skills preferred. This individual will perform administrative duties in an outpatient clinic setting including answering phones, processing mail, retrieving and sending electronic faxes, scanning and printing documents, gathering and entering patient data, and filing. The clinical assistant will be responsible for working with confidential information, including clinic referrals and intake packets, insurance information, and medical records. The clinical assistant will also purchase clinical supplies and materials including test kits and protocols, and make travel arrangements using UNM purchasing card. Conditions of Employment - UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer. All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Annual TB testing may be required if working in a patient care area. Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement. Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications - Administrative and customer service experience in a clinical setting. Computer and software skills, with demonstrated ability to learn new software programs. Bilingual - fluent Spanish speaker. Purchasing and inventory experience. Additional Requirements - This position requires a background check and fingerprinting.
