Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician: 5-10 Year Experience Level

Job Summary SCR is seeking an experienced HVAC/R Service Technician to perform service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. The role requires strong technical and customer service skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Candidates should have 5-10 years of hands‑on commercial HVAC/R service experience. Roles and Responsibilities Perform service, preventive maintenance, and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration systems. Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify system issues and provide effective solutions. Communicate with customers to explain service needs, offer solutions, and ensure satisfaction. Ensure all systems are properly calibrated to manufacturer specifications. Replace faulty parts or components following industry best practices. Accurately complete service reports, maintenance logs, and other required documentation. Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies. Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and product updates. Check into customer systems and software, log hours and notes via mobile technology such as iPads or cell phones. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Requirements Degree, diploma, or certification in HVAC/R. Universal EPA certification. 5‑10 years of hands‑on commercial HVAC/R service experience. Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills. Current, valid driver’s license. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for customer interaction and teamwork. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration principles. Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems; skilled in using diagnostic tools and equipment. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Ability to navigate iPads and mobile technology, or willingness to be trained upon hire. Ability to assume an on‑call rotation schedule. Preferred Skills PLT license or unlicensed PLT registration. Previous experience with HVAC software or mobile apps. Strong customer service skills. CO2 refrigeration experience. Physical Requirements Ability to carry and lift heavy equipment up to 100 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching. Work in varying environments, including indoor and outdoor conditions, exposure to seasonal temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels. Comfortable working in tight spaces, on ladders, and at elevated heights when needed. Manual dexterity required for use of tools and equipment. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures. Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods during a typical workday.
