MEP Project Manager

Summary: Plans, directs, and coordinates construction activities for mechanical and electrical industrial projects. Project types range from Steel/Manufacturing, Power, Data Centers, and other MEP‑related projects across industries. Typical workload involves overseeing one large project or several smaller projects. Ensures project goals are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Manages Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen, overseeing construction employees. Duties and Responsibilities: Initiate and maintain liaison with prime clients to facilitate construction activities. Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy boundaries. Confers with project staff to outline work plan, assign duties, and authority. Establish work plan and staffing for each project phase. Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within budget. Review project proposals or plans to determine timeframe, funding limits, procedures, staffing, and resources. Review status reports and modify schedules/plans as needed. Prepare project reports for management, clients, or others. Provide technical advice and problem resolution to project personnel. Coordinate project activities with governmental agencies and subcontractors. Analyze and execute CPM‑based project schedules. Monitor construction via Superintendent to ensure safety, schedule, and budget compliance. Represent company in Owner progress meetings. Manage financial aspects of contracts and project P&L. Lead project team in daily field coordination, weekly block schedule, and monthly safety kickoff meetings. Mentor and assist with career development of team members. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction. Other tasks and duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Interview/hire, train, plan, assign, direct work, appraise performance, reward/discipline, address complaints, and resolve problems. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or construction management. PE credentialing is not required but is a strong plus. 10+ years’ experience in construction, design, finance, and management. Skills and Abilities: Understand and interpret safety laws and company policies/standards. Apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance. Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities. Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Business-oriented. Ability to assure responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others.
