The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs (OGPA) works to advance graduate and postdoctoral programs and enhance the graduate student and postdoctoral fellow experience at George Washington University. Its mission is to provide support to students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, and faculty engaging in graduate-level work and research by establishing and facilitating communication and cooperation among GW schools and colleges that support graduate education, and by providing guidance for graduate students and postdocs to ensure academic success, professional growth, and wellness. Through these efforts, OGPA is committed to fostering a greater sense of community and connection for graduate students and postdocs by creating engaging and valuable experiences. OGPA includes the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA), the Office of Graduate Affairs (OGA), and the Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships (OGSAF). OGSAF's mission is to provide exemplary graduate student services in the areas of graduate funding and support. Our office's commitment empowers our students to achieve professional and academic goals in the nation's capital and beyond. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Graduate & Postdoctoral Affairs and with the support of other administrators and faculty, the Supervisor, Graduate Assistantships and Fellowships oversees the implementation of fellowship programs by providing direction over subordinate administrative and/or program staff members, and serving as a cross-unit liaison. This position is responsible for managing budgets, contracts, agreements, record keeping, policy development, and departmental logistics for various initiatives and events. This is a management position at the university that, in addition to leading a work unit, leads and supervises staff directly, makes hiring decisions, provides coaching, training, and mentoring to staff in addition to graduate student fellows in select programs, manages performance, and determines future staffing needs. The duties and goals of this role are linked to the success of annual programs and the implementation of priority initiatives. Key job responsibilities include the following: Provide administrative oversight of departmental operations, such as budgets, contracts, agreements, record keeping, and departmental logistics for various initiatives and events. Coordinate graduate student support for external fellowship opportunities, including application review and institutional nomination. Participate in negotiations with the graduate assistant union and lead implementation of the collective bargaining agreement. Ensure the timely payment of graduate student assistantships and fellowships, as well as subsidies for health insurance where appropriate. Manage staff directly, and support opportunities for training and mentoring. Oversee the Graduate Teaching Assistantship Program (GTAP), including Oral English Proficiency Screening (OEPS). Assist in the development, interpretation, and implementation of university policies related to graduate student funding. Collect and analyze data related to graduate student assistants. Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the assignment of other duties that are logically related to the position. The position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC.

Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 4 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor's degree or a Master's degree is preferred. Experience managing projects and budgets is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Hiring Range - $55,260.32 - $80,061.24
