Molding Technician

A manufacturing facility specializing in advanced composite materials is seeking entry-level Molding Technicians to support production operations. This hands-on role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The Molding Technician I works under close supervision to assist senior technicians with machine operation, part inspection, material handling, and basic troubleshooting, while strictly following safety procedures and detailed instructions. Full training is provided, and successful temporary employees may be considered for long-term opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians with machine setup and operation to support daily production goals.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished products from molding and related equipment.
• Follow detailed written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.
• Monitor machines during operation and promptly escalate issues to senior technicians or supervisors.
• Use hand tools and shop equipment safely and correctly as needed for molding and assembly tasks.
• Adjust and regulate machine settings such as pressure, temperature, and cure times under guidance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards.
• Perform additional production, assembly, or support duties as assigned by leadership.
• Learn and follow established quality inspection standards for composite and molded parts.
• Measure and visually inspect parts for defects using precision tools and gauges.
• Identify and report quality issues with oversight from senior technicians to ensure product conformity.
• Follow all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety procedures at all times.
• Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste in designated containers and areas.
• Support and promote a clean, safe, and compliant work environment for all team members.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience in manufacturing, composites, or production preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machines and tools.
• Basic computer skills to follow instructions and document work.
• Ability to perform simple math and unit conversions; a math test will be administered during the interview process.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English accurately.
• Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and stand for extended periods during the shift.
• Team-oriented communication skills and willingness to collaborate with others.
• Ability to monitor equipment and identify issues for escalation.
• Commitment to following safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a Molding Technician, Composite Technician, Production Technician, Machine Operator, Manufacturing Associate, or Manufacturing Assembler is beneficial.
• Background in composite manufacturing, assembly production, or mechanical work is a plus.
• Basic troubleshooting skills for production equipment under guidance.
• Comfort working in a structured, process-driven manufacturing environment.
• Interest in learning advanced composite molding processes and inspection techniques.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility focused on advanced composite materials and molding operations. The position involves working around production machinery, hand tools, and shop equipment, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to procedures. Employees must wear appropriate PPE and follow safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste. The position requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 55 lbs, and working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The role includes a structured training period on the day shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM for the first two months. After training, one opening is available on the swing shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and one opening is available on the night shift from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.30/hr.
