Job Title: Cabin Leader

FLSA Status : Temporary - Full Time - exempt
Reports to: Head Cabin Leader

Rate of Pay : $400/ weekly

Closing Date: 5/29/2026

Benefits : Temporary Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

  • Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)

GENERAL DUTIES:

· Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.

· Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.

· Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.

· Assist with Camper check-in and check-out.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Safety and Supervision

· Enforce, and abide by, all camp policies and procedures

· Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times

· Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.

· Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.

· Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.

Weekly Responsibilities

  • Attend trainings and weekly staff meetings.
  • Cabin Leader must attend the two-week staff training after serving for the summer.
  • Staff meetings occur every Monday after camper arrival and on Friday after all campers have departed from camp and camp is cleaned.
  • In-service trainings take place during the summer. All Cabin Leaders are required to attend all in-service trainings that pertain to their summer role.
  • Lead assigned campers in daily camp activities.
  • Participate with and guide cabin group in morning, afternoon, and evening activities throughout the week.
  • Participate with and guide cabin group in all opening and closing activities.
  • Activities include: all age-appropriate camp programs assigned during weekly scheduling meetings, devotions, mealtimes, chill time (rest hour), “all-camp” activities, etc…
  • Lead campers in camp chores. Cabin Leaders are to lead by example.
  • Assist campers with daily cabin clean up, including, sweeping, making beds, hanging wet clothing, etc…
  • Assist campers with meal clean up, including, washing dishes, dumping trash, wiping down table, etc…
  • Assist campers with weekly group capers. Capers may include taking out trash, sweeping the DH, etc…
  • Lead and participate in group devotion times, activity discussions, and praise and worship.
  • Be present and on time for morning devotion (quiet time).
  • Plan and lead group devotions daily.
  • Take time to discuss activities in relation to camper’s Christian walk.
  • Actively participate in the praise and worship at weekly chapels and campfires.
  • Manage camper behavior.
  • Manage behavior that needs to be managed and relax when it does not need to be managed.
  • High Peak Camp does not tolerate bullying. Be proactive in keeping positive group interaction.
  • Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain group control at specialized group activities so that the support staff can focus on safety.
  • Refer to staff manual to be sure all safety regulations and emergency procedures are being followed.
  • Adhere to all PTM guidelines.
  • Participate in “all-camp” activities and large group activities.
  • “All-camp” and large group activities include Monday group games, Monday and Friday camp fires,
  • Responsible for the health and well-being of self and assigned campers.
  • Cabin Leaders are responsible for meeting their own personal health and hygiene needs, including taking prescribed medications.
  • Allow campers time to take care of personal hygiene including, showers, brushing teeth, etc…
  • Escort campers to the nurse for daily medications.
  • Escort campers to the nurse to treat injuries or illness outside of your level of care or training.
  • Perform all other duties and roles assigned.
  • Due to the particular nature of the camp program in session, you may be asked to assist in duties not directly related to this specific job description. This is necessary for the smooth operation of the camp. Staff members are expected to comply with all reasonable requestsLastly and most important:

Qualification and Education Requirements:

· Personal relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ.

· 18+ years of age.

· Current First Aid and CPR certification (may be obtained on site).

· Experience providing childcare and supervision and must love being with children.

· Ability to use positive behavior management techniques with campers and an ability to adapt to difficult situations with a sense of maturity and safety.

· Maintain a high standard of Christian personal living and behaviors.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift to 25 pounds. Ability to access and produce information from the computer. Ability to understand written information. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. A request to modify or adjust these requirements may be made to your supervisor and HR.
