Description

American Traveler is seeking a Radiation Therapist with ARRT (T) certification and at least one year of relevant experience for a hospital-based radiation oncology department.

Details

• 13-week assignment in a hospital Radiation Oncology department
• Monday through Friday schedule, 8-hour day shifts with flexible daily start/end times to meet department coverage needs, totaling 40 hours per week
• No fixed on-call requirement, though weekend or holiday coverage may occasionally be needed based on department needs
• May rotate to sister hospital locations as needed
• Uses Cerner for electronic medical records

Requirements

• ARRT Radiation Therapy (T) certification required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• Active SC or compact Radiation Therapist license required, if applicable
• South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) certification required
• High school diploma/GED and completion of an AMA-approved radiation therapy training program required
• Minimum of one year of relevant radiation therapy experience, including clinical internship experience
• Proficiency in dose calculations, patient set-up, and equipment operation required
• Ability to fabricate custom immobilization devices and treatment aids
• Frequent standing, walking, and use of fine hand/finger dexterity required
• Ability to lift, move, or carry up to 50 lbs intermittently

Additional Information

• Deliver prescribed radiation therapy treatments under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist
• Perform clinical simulations using treatment machines and CT simulators
• Maintain accurate electronic records of treatments, dose totals, and billing information
• Explain procedures to patients and address questions or concerns during treatment
• Collaborate daily with Radiation Oncologists, Physicists, nursing staff, and other departmental team members
• Work in an environment with potential exposure to radiation, bloodborne pathogens, and other healthcare-related hazards
• Maintain professional appearance and strict confidentiality of patient information
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
• Local candidates are not eligible for this position
• Travelers may remain on assignment for up to one year from their initial start date before requiring a 30-60 day break
• Open to first-time travelers with the required experience and certifications
