Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting early learners for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position, located near Nixa, MO, is designed for dedicated professionals passionate about making a lasting difference. Working 35 hours per week from 8:30am to 3:30pm, you’ll serve as a 1:1 interpreter with an enthusiastic 1st grade student, helping to foster communication, growth, and confidence throughout each school day.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Valid credentials/certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Compassion, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting young learners
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing 1:1 interpreting services for a 1st grade student throughout the school day
- Accurately facilitating communication between the student, teachers, and peers
- Assisting with classroom activities, ensuring full access to curriculum and participation
- Collaborating with educators and support staff to address the student’s individual needs
- Maintaining thorough and accurate daily records
- Supporting the student’s social interaction and inclusion in school routines
