HVAC Controls Technician

Controls TechnicianWe're partnering with a growing building automation and HVAC solutions provider seeking a Controls Technician to support the installation, programming, commissioning, and ongoing service of commercial building automation systems.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining hands-on field work with technical problem solving. You'll work on a variety of commercial projects, helping customers improve building performance, occupant comfort, and energy efficiency through modern automation technologies.If you have experience with HVAC controls, DDC systems, or building automation platforms—and enjoy working directly with customers—we'd love to hear from you.What You'll DoInstall, program, troubleshoot, and commission commercial building automation systemsConfigure controllers, graphics, alarms, and system sequences based on project requirementsRead and interpret mechanical drawings, control schematics, and construction documentsPerform system startup, testing, validation, and functional performance verificationAssist with programming modifications, electrical terminations, and field commissioning activitiesCreate and maintain project documentation, including as-built drawings and closeout materialsDiagnose and resolve control system issues in both new construction and retrofit environmentsSupport multiple projects while effectively managing priorities and deadlinesTrain end users on system operation and provide ongoing customer supportMaintain strong communication with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and customers throughout the project lifecycleTravel to customer sites as needed, including occasional overnight travelWhat We're Looking For3+ years of experience working with building automation systems, HVAC controls, or commercial mechanical systemsSolid understanding of HVAC equipment, control strategies, and direct digital controls (DDC)Ability to read control drawings, wiring diagrams, and mechanical plansExperience commissioning and troubleshooting commercial automation systemsStrong customer service and communication skillsComfortable working independently in the field with minimal supervisionProficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsPreferred QualificationsExperience with Tridium Niagara (Niagara AX or Niagara 4)Experience with Alerton building automation systemsFamiliarity with new construction, retrofit, and service projectsTridium Niagara Certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain certification through employer-sponsored training)Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily field-based and involves working in commercial buildings, construction sites, mechanical rooms, and equipment spaces.
