Job Title: Firmware EngineerJob Description The Firmware Engineer designs, develops, and maintains robust embedded software and firmware for complex products. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to create reliable solutions, define hardware-to-software interfaces, and ensure high-quality performance through rigorous testing and integration of software components. Responsibilities Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop robust embedded software and firmware for assigned products. Integrate software components into embedded systems and ensure seamless interaction between hardware and software. Build and execute unit-level and system-level tests using a hardware-in-the-loop simulator to validate functionality and performance. Define, document, and manage hardware-to-software interfaces to ensure clear and consistent integration across the system. Design and implement drivers for embedded system peripherals, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and maintainability. Develop secure firmware solutions that align with best practices in embedded security. Use Git or similar version-control systems to manage code repositories, track changes, and support collaborative development. Work with RTOS environments such as Micro C, Zephyr, or Embedded Linux to develop real-time embedded applications. Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize embedded software and firmware to improve performance and stability. Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, testing practices, and documentation standards. Essential Skills 6+ years of experience in embedded software and firmware development in fast-paced environments. Strong proficiency in embedded C programming for firmware development. Proficiency in C++ for embedded software development. Hands-on experience with embedded interfaces and protocols such as I2C. Experience working with RTOS environments such as Micro C, Zephyr, or Embedded Linux. Experience using Git or similar version-control systems for collaborative software development. Ability to define and manage hardware-to-software interfaces in complex embedded systems. Experience designing and implementing drivers for embedded system peripherals. Ability to build and run unit-level and system-level tests, including use of hardware-in-the-loop simulators. Proficiency in developing secure firmware and applying security best practices in embedded systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM field. Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional product development environments. Familiarity with Zephyr-based embedded development. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in embedded systems. Ability to write clear technical documentation for interfaces, drivers, and test procedures. Work Environment The role operates in a collaborative, engineering-focused environment that emphasizes cross-functional teamwork and rigorous testing of embedded systems. Work involves developing and validating firmware using tools such as hardware-in-the-loop simulators, RTOS platforms like Micro C, Zephyr, and Embedded Linux, and version-control systems such as Git. The position typically follows standard full-time engineering hours, with flexibility to support project timelines and integration activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Centennial, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
