Sports Journalist Full-Time Regular [30 or more hrs/wk] First/MidLevel Mgmt Tenn & NC The Daily Advance, Elizabeth City, NC, US 6 days ago Requisition ID: 2093 Job Description The Daily Advance is seeking an energetic and dedicated journalist to cover sports-related news and events in Elizabeth City and surrounding counties. The job will focus on sports features, enterprise reporting and highlighting top athletes and figures. Because we are a small newsroom, the right candidate would also be expected to cover news functions. Hours are flexible, but the job requires working nights and occasionally weekends. Major Responsibilities Develop strong daily content including features, enterprise pieces and event coverage, including photos and video Cultivate sources; recruit and manage contributors Coordinate print and digital sports sections Manage special projects involving sports Meet deadlines and ensure content providers meet schedules General assignment reporting Qualifications Previous experience in journalism, sports writing preferred Excellent knowledge of language, grammar, spelling, punctuation and AP style Ability to communicate and interact effectively both verbally and in writing Benefits The fringe benefits include medical (split between employer and employee), dental and vision options (employee paid).
