Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis will lead and perform key aspects of the company’s financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, research and analysis, report preparation, and assisting with month‑end close processes. The pay range is $125,000 - $150,000. This position is 100% in office, in the Hillcrest area of San Diego, CA. There is no relocation available for anyone out of the area. Perks of Working at Better Buzz Work with an amazing team of coffee enthusiasts Work with a growing brand Free food and drink daily while working Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and more & 401K with a match 10 Days Paid Time Off Responsibilities Coordinate with CFO on long‑term financial planning to predict current and future performance Serve as key business partner to senior management, providing financial insights and recommendations Lead financial forecasting, planning and budgeting processes, preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts Manage and deliver timely and accurate weekly and monthly reporting and analysis on key performance metrics, identifying key insights and trends while providing recommendations for improvement Analyze financial statements and report on current financial status and health Partner with development and operations on new store analytics and measurements around capital expenditures, restaurant‑level profits, and returns on investment Develop financial models and projections through benchmarking and process analysis Lead analysis of marketing and pricing initiatives, including recommendations and performance tracking Analyze and review proposals for any system related to financial accounting methods Work collaboratively and cross‑functionally to prepare and deliver comprehensive evaluations, proposals, and recommendations to stakeholders Lead analysis of pricing initiatives, including assistance in creation of pricing and revenue optimization solutions and measurement of performance Annual G&A budget preparation, monthly analysis, and cause of change reporting Provide analytical support for the executive management team Identify areas for financial optimization and cost management Lead special projects as needed to support marketing/ops/real estate etc. Communicate financial information clearly and concisely to all audiences Manage and develop internal analysts and provide coaching as needed Manage large data sets from disparate sources for data mining, analysis, and research Manage internal analyst and external accounting team and provide coaching as needed Identify and remove obstacles for General Managers to run their locations according to all Better Buzz Coffee standards while maximizing efficiency and profitability Provide clear and consistent direction through performance feedback and adhere to accounting and financial systems Maintain confidentiality of financial information Qualifications BS in Accounting or Finance required MBA and experience in private equity, investment banking, or strategy consulting firm required 5+ years’ experience of strong and progressive financial planning & analysis required Advanced skills with Excel, Power Point and database programming Food and Beverage or Hospitality Industry Accounting Experience a plus Knowledge of and skill in corporate finance, budgeting, and performance management Exceptional analytical and data modeling skills, and experience applying these skills to improve operational performance Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to interact with senior executives and management, as well as business staff at all levels Ability to handle multiple priorities and effectively meet critical deadlines Natural curiosity for problem solving Strong attention to detail Better Buzz encourages you to be bold and authentically you!
