Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Position Summary: The Certified Nursing Assistant performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Team Highlights: The patient population of 2 East consists of joint replacements, neuro surgeries, traumas, strokes, seizure patients, as well as general medical patients. Kootenai Health's Total Joint Program is a collaborative effort between local participating surgeons and hospital staff. The Total Joint Program ensures our patients having hip, knee or shoulder replacement surgery have a safe and successful recovery. Neurosurgery is the specialty focused on surgical treatment of disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, and cerebrovascular system. Often we work with patients recovering from Craniotomies, Laminectomies, cervical and many other types of surgeries performed by our experienced care team. Neurology consists of treating disorders of the nervous systems. We care for patients who are here for strokes, injuries of the brain (Traumatic Brain Injuries), seizure patients who require EEG monitoring, as well as many other diagnoses. Responsibilities:
• Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
• Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs
• Typical equipment used in a clinical role job
• Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
• Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment

What to Expect after you transfer:
- Works with the patient's physical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive, and psychological needs specific to the population being served and meets standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age specific competency standards. When possible, the family or those significant to the family are considered as part of the care.
- Supports the department by answering call lights for all patients and notifies staff responsible if unable to meet patient need
- Assists patients with activities of daily living
- Follows the delegation process when receiving requests from a team mem
- Reads charts, dials, equipment settings, literature, and other printed and handwritten materials
- Communicates with patients, physicians, families, and co-workers in person and/or on telephone
- Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and/or gathers vital signs
- Aids physicians and nursing staff members with procedures
- Utilizes the electronic medical record to document patient care
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- State of Idaho Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required
- BLS required

What to Expect after you transfer:
- If you change your title or department, you will receive a new badge. Badges are printed and available in Security on the Wednesday of the week following your transfer.
- Your benefits may change if your position status (FT, PT, or PRN) has been updated. Please talk with your Recruiter if you have any questions about your status and benefits.
- Those with a primary position as a PRN will receive per diem pay. Per Diem rates are tiered depending on number of years of employment.
- If you are moving into a new role, HR will provide you with a new job description to review and sign. HR will also request documentation for any new requirements for your position, including experience, education, licensure, certification, etc.
- If EPIC training is required for your role and you have not completed the required module for your position, please complete an EPIC Fast Track Attestation at
- If an advanced background check with Health and Welfare is required for your role and you have not completed one previously, you will need to complete the process before your transfer date.
