Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Summary:

MLR is seeking a skilled and passionate Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join a dynamic and expanding hospital in Illinois. In this role, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of nuclear medicine procedures under the direction of a radiologist, working independently without constant oversight of technical aspects. The technologist adheres to ALARA principles and all regulatory standards to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Nuclear Medicine Technologist Qualifications:

• Completion of a formal Nuclear Medicine program with associated certificate or degree.
• One (1) year Nuclear Medicine experience preferred.
• IEMA License in Nuclear Medicine.
• ARRT(NM) or NMTCB registry required
• Maintains Basic Life support certification.

Nuclear Medicine Technologist Responsibilities:

• Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Operate imaging equipment such as gamma cameras and PET scanners to obtain images.
• Position patients correctly and ensure patient comfort during procedures.
• Follow protocols to obtain high-quality images and maintain patient records.
• Monitor patients during imaging procedures and address any adverse reactions.
• Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret imaging results.
• Maintain compliance with safety protocols and radiation protection measures.
• Perform quality control tests on equipment and maintain inventory of radiopharmaceuticals.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and address any concerns.
• Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology.
• Adhere to ethical and professional standards, including patient confidentiality.
