Job Opportunity: General Anesthesiologist

Sign-on increase for a general anesthesiologist opportunity in historic Gloucester, VA, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.

Riverside Walter Reed Hospital is a nonprofit, short term acute care facility at the heart of the Gloucester, VA, community. This 67-bed facility is home to a 24-hour emergency service and a 12,000-square-foot intensive care unit. As part of the Riverside Health System, Walter Reed also has direct access to Riverside Regional Medical Center's Level II trauma center, a nationally recognized Heart Center, and an 18-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. As a regional leader in providing health care since 1915, the Riverside Health System is dedicated to collaborative care that puts patients and residents at the center of all operations.

Case assignments include endo, ortho, ophthalmology, general, urology, vascular, GYN, ENT. Shifts include multiple schedules to choose from including call and non-call options. No OB. Call is from home. Flexible schedules including 2 weeks on 1 week off available.

Team leadership is provided by Kyle Johnson, MD.

Responsibilities include assisting in the directing and coordinating of activities in the anesthesia department, responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures. Pre-anesthesia assessment, obtaining and/or verifying patient consent, discussing anesthetic options and risks with the patient, induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, monitoring of the patient's physiological condition, and performance of clinical intervention as needed.

Requirements include an M.D./D.O. degree from an accredited college of medicine, ECFMG and FLEX completion, completion of an approved residency in anesthesia, and currently licensed as a physician.
