Prior Authorization Medical Assistant - Endocrinology

Overview

The Prior Authorization Medical Assistant supports patient care by handling prior authorizations for essential medications and labs. They communicate with insurers, gather documentation, and follow up on pending requests so patients can access treatments for endocrine conditions without interruption.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.Blood sugar line- MA retrieves patient information from phone line and starts a message in EPIC- sometimes up to 3 weeks of blood sugar readings Maintaining supplies and linens- ordering, checking expirations Adding external labs- creating telephone encounters in EPIC Assisting RNs with Forms/letters Calling patients to retrieve blood sugars for multiple weeks. Entering data in flow records POC testing- blood glucose

Qualifications

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)

Salary Range

The compensation range for this position is $17.12per hour - $27.73per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
