This is manual work in obtaining parts, inventory and general maintenance custodial duties. Nature and variety of work work involves performing routine tasks in general cleaning and painting. Employees in this class also perform general custodial duties in maintaining service area buildings and grounds. Work is performed under direct supervision, requiring limited decision-making and is reviewed through inspection of work upon completion.

Examples of duties and knowledge, skills and abilities Picks up and delivers automotive parts and equipment not immediately available in inventory or from vendors. Performs general custodial duties in maintaining service area buildings and grounds; cleans building areas, including sweeping floors and waxing and buffing surfaces; maintains yard areas, cutting grass, trimming trees, and general repair of outdoor fixtures. Performs related work as required. Knowledge, skills, and abilities Some knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the automotive trade. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to perform general custodial duties in the maintenance of buildings and grounds. Positions in this class are required to lift tools and equipment weighing fifty pounds (50 lbs.) and climb onto and around equipment.

Minimum qualifications Sufficient education to interpret and follow oral and written instructions Six (6) or more months of experience in general automotive maintenance Valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license Note: This position is Safety Sensitive and employees in this position are subject to alcohol and controlled dangerous substance (CDS) testing. Note: Longevity pay is available based on years of service.

Supplemental qualifications Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following: One (1) or more years of experience working with automotive parts Experience working in a government environment
