Position Overview

Healthcare Recruiters International is recruiting a Mental Health and Substance Use Counselor for an established behavioral health organization in Bryan, Ohio.

This position is ideal for an Ohio-licensed counselor or social worker who wants to support individuals experiencing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and co-occurring diagnoses. The counselor will manage an assigned caseload and provide assessment, treatment planning, counseling, care coordination, crisis support, and discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage an assigned behavioral health caseload
  • Conduct mental health, substance use, and dual-diagnosis assessments
  • Develop individualized, client-centered treatment plans
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling
  • Monitor client progress and update treatment plans as needed
  • Coordinate services with healthcare providers and community resources
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Participate in discharge and aftercare planning
  • Attend treatment-team meetings and clinical supervision
  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when needed
  • Follow organizational, ethical, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality
Required Education

Candidates must meet one of the following education requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related helping profession
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related behavioral health field
Required Ohio Licensure

Candidates must hold at least one of the following active Ohio credentials in good standing:

  • Licensed Social Worker
  • Licensed Professional Counselor
  • Marriage and Family Therapist
  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II
  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III
Additional Requirements

- Valid driver's license

- Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends when needed

- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills

- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

- Commitment to respectful, client-centered behavioral healthcare

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Mental health counseling
  • Substance use disorder treatment
  • Co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
  • Behavioral health assessments
  • Individual, group, or family counseling
  • Crisis intervention and safety planning
  • Treatment planning
  • Clinical documentation
  • DSM-5 diagnostic criteria
  • Community-based behavioral healthcare
