Plant Controller

Our client is an architecture, engineering, and construction management firm focused on pharmaceutical and biotech facilities. Their work includes process and MEP engineering, process architecture, lab planning, and commissioning and qualification. They already serve clients in Maryland and are opening an office in the region to support that work and expand it.

The role

The Office Leader will open and run the Maryland office and serve as the firm's senior representative in the Maryland and DC market.

The position is based in Silver Spring, MD. Most of the work is in Maryland and the DC area.

What you would be doing:

Office leadership

• Set up and run the Maryland office day to day
• Manage the office's financial performance, including utilization
• Hire and develop architects and engineers as the office grows

Client relationships and business development

• Serve as the primary contact for the firm's clients in Maryland and the DC area
• Expand work with existing clients and develop new ones across the region's pharmaceutical and biotech market
• Lead proposals, including scope, fee, and schedule
• Represent the firm in the local life science community, including ISPE and other industry events

Project delivery

• Oversee projects from planning and design through construction and commissioning
• Coordinate with the firm's other offices to put the right technical staff on each project
• Keep projects on budget, on schedule, and in line with GMP requirements

What we are looking for

• Registered architect or licensed Professional Engineer
• Significant experience leading pharmaceutical or biotech facility projects, including managing the client relationship
• Established relationships in the Maryland and DC life science market
• Experience managing staff and project teams
• Working knowledge of GMP requirements for life science facilities
• Prior office or department leadership experience is a plus
