Manufacturing Engineer

Weber Knapp Company has designed, developed, and manufactured mechanical hardware and kinematic motion control devices for over 100 years. Our team of design engineers has over 85 years of combined experience working for Weber Knapp Company. We have custom engineered and manufactured products for a vast number of applications that range from multi-link concealed refrigerator hinges to counterbalance hinges on medical centrifuges.


Job Summary:


Developing tools and processes for products manufactured, assembled, and packaged on site.

Function of Position:

• Design tools and fixtures
• Manage new tool design through build and production launch
• Document set up and production procedures for tooling and processes
• Provide technical production support
• Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, fixtures and/or processes that have been identified as non-conforming
• Develop product protection plans and packaging

Requirements

Ideal Skills: Proficiency using 3D CAD Software, SOLIDWORKS preferred. Working Knowledge of:

1. Metal component fabrication including, slitting, stamping, laser cutting, forming, turning, welding, and machining
2. Metal finishing operations including, bulk cleaning, vibratory finishing, electroplating, conversion coating, and powder coat application
3. Lean assembly techniques

• Hands on Quality Measurement Techniques for SPC
• Solid mechanical aptitude
• Ability to communicate and work with people at all levels of the office and factory floor
• An understanding of industrial controls such as PLCs, relay logic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems a plus

Required Qualifications

• Education - Bachelor's Degree in a Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering Discipline or an Associate Engineering Degree with Tool and Fixture design experience.
