Job Description
This role provides comprehensive outpatient primary care, with a strong focus on LGBTQ and underserved communities. The physician assesses patient health needs, performs physical examinations, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled substances and hormone therapy. The position emphasizes patient education on transgender health, HIV disease, primary care issues, and medication adherence, while actively contributing to multidisciplinary care planning, quality improvement, and culturally competent, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality outpatient primary care services, including assessment of healthcare needs, physical examinations, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions.
• Order, interpret, and act on pertinent diagnostic tests to support accurate diagnosis and evidence-based treatment plans.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled substances and hormone therapy, in accordance with clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Educate patients on transgender health, HIV disease, primary care topics, and strategies to improve adherence to prescribed medications.
• Deliver culturally competent care to all patients, with particular focus on the needs and experiences of LGBTQ communities.
• Serve as a key member of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating to develop and implement coordinated, patient-centered treatment plans.
• Assist in the development and implementation of clinic policies, procedures, clinical protocols, continuous quality improvement standards, and program monitoring processes.
• Work closely with administrative staff and the Medical Director to implement innovative approaches to care and to meet standards set by accrediting bodies.
• Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with community providers, referral sources, and the hospital where privileges are held.
• Continually update clinical knowledge in LGBTQ health, primary care, and HIV/AIDS through reading, conferences, lectures, and other educational opportunities.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at increasing health outcomes and enhancing the patient experience.
• Act as a collaborating physician for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), providing guidance, consultation, and clinical oversight as required.
• Demonstrate unconditional positive regard for patients and provide exceptional customer service in all interactions.
• Continuously grow and demonstrate cultural competency, showing understanding, awareness, and respect for diversity, and practicing cultural humility in daily interactions with staff, patients, and the community.
• Utilize electronic health records and other clinical systems accurately and efficiently to document care, track outcomes, and support coordinated services.
• Contribute to utilization review and other clinical review processes as needed to support quality and appropriate use of services.
• Provide clinic coverage one Saturday morning per month and selected evening clinic sessions as scheduled.

Essential Skills

• Strong clinical skills in primary care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for a wide range of conditions.
• Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that integrate medical, behavioral, and preventative care.
• Ability to educate patients clearly and compassionately about transgender health, HIV disease, primary care issues, and medication adherence.
• Demonstrated passion for and cultural competency in serving LGBTQ patients and underserved populations.
• Sensitivity to, interest in, and competence in working with individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and minority health issues.
• Ability to be credentialed and privileged by the appropriate medical board and affiliated hospital.
• Excellent bedside manner with a strong commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and with Advanced Practice Providers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse patients and colleagues.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and comfort using electronic health record systems.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, web tools, and related applications.
• Organizational skills to manage a busy outpatient schedule, including some evening and Saturday coverage.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited university with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
• Completion of an accredited residency program in a relevant specialty.
• Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of Ohio.
• Federal DEA license in good standing.
• Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
• Experience providing care to LGBTQ communities and individuals living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS.
• Experience participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives and utilization review processes.
• Experience with Epic electronic health records is preferred.
• Interest in community-driven healthcare that integrates medical, dental, behavioral, and preventative services.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development through conferences, lectures, and other educational activities.

Work Environment
The role is based in an outpatient clinical setting that integrates medical, dental, behavioral, and preventative services with a strong community and advocacy focus. The typical schedule runs approximately from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a requirement to provide clinic coverage one Saturday morning per month and selected evening sessions during the week. The environment emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care for underserved and LGBTQ+ populations, with a multidisciplinary team approach that includes medical, behavioral health, and support staff. Clinicians use electronic health records, with Epic preferred, along with standard office technologies and Microsoft Office applications. The culture prioritizes collaboration, cultural humility, and continuous quality improvement, offering opportunities for ongoing learning, professional growth, and participation in community-focused initiatives.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $200000.00 - $280000.00/yr.
