Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Shipping / Receiver (AMS)

Under direct supervision, the purpose of this position is to perform a variety of routine warehouse duties including but not limited to, receiving, unloading, inventory storage, movement and distribution of goods and materials at the assigned branch. Completes routine paperwork and documentation as required. Principle Responsibilities and Duties Processes requisitions, work orders and shipping orders and issues material to end users utilizing the systems as defined by the company. Manually lift and load materials on and off trucks safely. Compares identifying information, and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Transfers materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas. Drives company vehicle, operates hydraulic lift and forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to shop or customers as needed, as well as pick up items from vendors as required. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined part-number sequence. Marks material with identifying information. Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items accordingly. Initiate restock of items as necessary. Uses computer and current inventory programs to enter records. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers Prepare product for domestic and international shipping using proper packing techniques to insure safe arrival of goods and products. Determines best method of shipping and filing freight claims. Takes an active part in cycle counting and inventory processes. Participate in on-call rotation. Other duties as assigned by Manager

Qualifications High School Diploma or GED No experience necessary. Previous shipping and receiving experience preferred. Basic understanding of inventory control systems. Must possess math aptitude necessary to do inventory calculations. Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook preferred. Able to operate a variety of light equipment, hand trucks and vehicles within a warehouse environment. Requires Valid Driver's License, receive and maintain forklift certification. Good customer service skills; displays a professional can-do attitude. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Maintain daily equipment inspections. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
