Sterile Processing Tech (SPT)
The Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of surgical instruments and equipment. This position involves a variety of tasks associated with sterilization, decontamination, and reprocessing of medical instruments in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrapping of surgical instruments.
- Process flexible endoscopes and ensure high-level disinfection (HLD) of medical equipment.
- Maintain detailed documentation regarding equipment reprocessing and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments.
- Utilize knowledge of various instrument and tray reprocessing practices across multiple specialties.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing.
- Proficient in general instrument reprocessing and specific knowledge in OB/GYN, Plastics, ENT, Dental, Ophthalmology, Cardiovascular/Thoracic, Laparoscopic, Urology, Robotic, Ortho, Neuro/Spine, and Transplant.
- Experience with flexible endoscope reprocessing such as bronchoscopes and colonoscopes.
- Must possess national certifications: CBSPD or HSPA.
Work Schedule
Shifts will vary, including mid and night shifts (15:00 - 23:30) and (23:00 - 07:30). Weekend work may be required based on department needs.
Additional Information
- Total of 43 operating rooms available for various types of cases, including Spine, Neuro, Ortho, Eye, ENT, GYN, Urology, Davinci, Plastics, and Vascular.
- No floating among other facilities.
- Required to work a maximum of 5 days in any given request for time off (RTO).
- No local candidates accepted from outside a 100-mile radius.
- Parking costs a flat rate of $.55 per hour for all shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a short-term acute care setting.
- Knowledge of Excellian/Epic charting systems.
