Position Overview Full‑time Facility and Custodial Technician – Chatfield Farms, Denver Botanic Gardens. This position serves as a customer‑oriented liaison at the Chatfield Farms and York Street locations. It operates under general supervision to clean and maintain the internal and external appearance of the facilities and grounds. They interact with visitors, employees and volunteers. Additional duties include closing duties, wildlife management, site security and other assignments. The technician ensures a positive presentation of Chatfield Farms facilities and may be required to flex shifts to accommodate days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Responsibilities Monitors events and traffic flow of visitors throughout gardens and buildings, performing timely clean‑up including emptying trash cans, cleaning restroom facilities, picking up trash, etc. Maintains cleanliness of exterior hardscapes; sweeping sidewalks. Collects recycled materials and ensures collections are placed in proper containers. Maintains adequate cleaning supplies and ensures equipment is available. Cleans public and office areas: empty trash, dust, vacuum, windows, wash walls to ensure consistently clean and safe presentations. Empties interior and exterior trash cans within gardens and public areas. Reports tripping or other safety hazards to supervisor. Assists other personnel as assigned by Supervisor. Assists with other projects or special events occurring in the Gardens. Assists in the closing of gates, doors and clearing the Gardens at closing time; sets alarms. Ensures all trash is picked up on the external grounds daily. Participates in snow removal duties. Coordinates with other staff to ensure seamless transitions of cleaning, set up of venues. Assists Private Events staff in the set up of event space; may include repairing tables, chairs, and furniture. Maintains positive and professional relationships with managers, co‑workers, and others. Maintains a positive, helpful, and solution‑oriented demeanor when responding to or serving members, visitors or others. Attends all meetings on site as required. Regular attendance at the worksite may be required; remote work at the discretion of management. All employees must commit to the mission of connecting people with plants. Qualifications Experience operating pressure washer and mechanical power blower. Experience operating powered carts. Knowledge in janitorial and light maintenance. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills. Stability under pressure, capable of dealing with stressful situations. Flexible and willing to modify plans during the day. Willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Ability to work overtime as necessary. Positive representative of the Gardens internally and externally at all times. Work with respect and cooperation with fellow employees and the public. Committed to working safely at all times. Experience / Education High school diploma / GED and/or equivalent education and experience. Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent.
