Echocardiography Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer- PRN

About the Job MedStar Health is looking for a PRN Weekend Coverage Echocardiograph Technologist to join our team at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center! The ideal candidate will be an American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) registered sonographer with knowledge of HIPAA policies on confidentiality. As an Echocardiograph Technologist, you will operate diagnostic equipment to produce high quality echocardiograms. Primary Duties Clinical: Operates diagnostic equipment and performs diagnostic procedures, positions patients for procedures, explains the process to patients, produces high quality echocardiograms, maintains patient, staff, and personal safety, monitors patients during procedures, evaluates ultrasound images, interacts with physicians regarding scans, prepares echo report, and enters data in Xeleraprior to physician interpretation. Environmental: Maintains a clean, safe, prepared work environment—prepares room for procedure, cleans and sterilizes equipment and procedure table, re-stocks and requests room supplies, checks drug supplies, and informs the appropriate person of needs to be replenished. Development: Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure, identifies learning needs, attends continuing education programs to maintain registry, attends hospital-sponsored training programs as required, and completes all mandatory requirements, certifications, and licensure within allotted time for completion. Organizational Knowledge: Works effectively within and between departments, participates in inter-departmental teams and committees, communicates unit knowledge as appropriate, provides department/unit with information and knowledge acquired during participation with interdepartmental teams and committees, and demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers inside and outside the unit. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Completion of an Echocardiography program. 1‑2 years of experience preferably in an inpatient setting. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography registration required through ARDMS within 180 days. CPR Category C certification.
