Job Details Job Location: HIGH DESERT DONOR CENTER – VICTORVILLE, CA 92395 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $17.00 – $27.00 hourly Travel Percentage: Negligible Shift: Flex Job Category: Health Care Responsibilities Provide excellent customer service while conducting donor registration, donor interviews, limited physical assessments, and whole blood phlebotomies. Monitor donor/patient recovery and provide adverse donor reaction care management. Perform general and special donor registration on computer and manually as needed. Perform tests such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and hematocrit/hemoglobin. Prepare pre‑donation apheresis sample. Confidentially interview donors regarding their medical history and current health status. Perform phlebotomy for allogeneic whole blood and directed whole blood collection. Monitor and discontinue manual collection of donor units in the drawing area. Properly prepare blood units for transport to the laboratory. Assist with donor recovery and adverse reactions. Draw specimens for donor re‑test and other orders. Conduct daily equipment/supply set‑up and breakdown, and perform quality control on specified instruments. Accurately complete all required documentation regarding donor, procedure, QC, and cleaning records. Actively recruit donors to various blood bank programs (e.g., apheresis) and promotions (e.g., special events). Work at different draw locations as needed. Customer Interaction / Problem Solving Maintain a high standard of courteous and enthusiastic service to internal and external customers, prioritizing customers’ needs in face‑to‑face or telephone contact, and consistently delivering service in a timely, accurate, professional, and friendly manner while demonstrating moderate problem‑solving skills. Other Duties Other duties may be assigned. Supervision The supervisor makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities, and deadlines and assists the employee with unusual situations. The employee plans and executes steps to complete assignments and follows instructions, policies, and previous training. The employee’s work is evaluated for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy. Qualifications Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work with blood. Ability to function as a team member. Ability to follow procedure. Good accuracy with attention to detail. Ability to perform successful venipunctures. Good documentation skills. Ability to work with machines and be technically minded. Ability to lift 30 pounds. Basic math skills related to determining donor eligibility. Ability to drive a standard passenger vehicle. Knowledge of basic computer operation. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Education High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required. Optional: Medical Assistant Diploma, Certified Nursing Assistant Diploma, Emergency Medical Technician Certificate, Phlebotomy Certificate, or similar military experience/certification. Experience One to two years of customer service experience preferred. Certificates, Licenses, and Certifications Emergency Medical Technician Certificate (if applicable) Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant Diploma (if applicable) Phlebotomy Certificate (if applicable) Current CPR Certification Current California Driver’s license Physical Demands Refer to ADA checklist attached for physical demands.
