Senior Packaging Engineer
Amgen Inc
Senior Packaging Engineer role supporting commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing operations at Amgen's Ohio facility. Provides technical expertise in packaging systems, troubleshoots production issues, drives continuous improvement, and mentors junior engineers in a GMP environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-the-floor technical support and real-time troubleshooting for packaging operations
- Investigate deviations and non-conformances with root cause analysis and CAPA implementation
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance line efficiency and reduce downtime
- Evaluate and qualify packaging materials; manage material changes and supplier issues
- Develop test protocols and technical assessments for process and material changes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or Industrial Design with 4+ years experience
- Master's or Doctorate degree with proportionally less experience required
- 5+ years pharmaceutical packaging experience with commercial manufacturing exposure
- Hands-on GMP manufacturing environment experience including deviation and root cause analysis
- Knowledge of glass, polymers, adhesives, inks, varnishes, and paper materials
- Problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Leadership or mentoring experience preferred
