Pain Management Physician

We have an immediate need for a locum Pain Management Physician to provide interventional procedures for our veteran population at the Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center located in Huntington, WV. These roles offer an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on veterans lives while experiencing the unique beauty of the Mid Appalachians.

Scope of Care: Contracted physician(s) (as appropriate and within scope of practice/privileging) shall be responsible for providing Pain Medicine or have demonstrable experience in pain management and opioid prescribing Physician care procedures.

Evaluation, Treatment and Management: Contracted physician(s) shall admit and coordinate all aspects of care for hospitalized medical patients including:

• Admission, including history and physical examinations.

• Appropriate placement within the Hospital.

• Evaluation and treatment, including the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies, including laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and electrocardiographic examinations, and the administration of medications normally considered part of the practice of hospital medicine.

• Discussion of end-of-life performance / advanced care planning.

• Consultations with subspecialists.

• Timely and proactive discharge planning.

• Coordination of care with primary care physicians.

• Discharge, including ensuring appropriate follow-up is arranged.

• Perioperative care.

Detailed list of responsibilities available

Administrative (10%): Quality Improvement Meetings, Staff Meetings, QA/QI documentation, and Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting.

Must have completed a residency in anesthesiology and be Board Certified /Board Eligible Pain Medicine or have demonstrable experience in pain management and opioid prescribing, have experience in providing scope of care as described herein and be currently certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA),

Credentialing and onboarding takes approximately 4-6 weeks.

Hours & Schedule:

Standard Clinic Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am 4:30pm Monday - Friday
