Located in Alturas, CA, this 13-week contract opportunity offers a key role overseeing inpatient pharmacy services within a medical center setting. The position reports to the Pharmaceutical Services Director and involves managing pharmaceutical operations to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities include procurement, distribution, storage, and administration of medications by appropriate staff. You will review all drug distribution systems and recommend solutions for efficient pharmacy service operations. Providing drug information and maintaining the Pharmacy Services Policy and Procedure Manual are essential tasks. You will serve as the Pharmacist in Charge, assisting with licensure issues and enforcing policies to ensure medication safety and regulatory compliance.

Critical duties encompass reviewing all inpatient medication orders for appropriateness, verifying patients’ home medications, and maintaining pharmaceuticals across the facility, including specialty kits and crash carts. Oversight of controlled substances, hazardous waste disposal, and inventory management—including pharmacy and Omnicell systems—is required. You will resolve any drug discrepancies promptly, maintain accurate procurement and billing records, and complete administrative tasks on time.

Weekend retail pharmacy coverage and on-call responsibilities after hours during assigned shifts are part of the role.

Desired Qualifications:

• Inpatient pharmacy experience within the past 3 years is required
• Strong knowledge of hospital outpatient and retail pharmacy operations
• Ability to manage pharmacy licensure and compliance with state/federal regulations
• Organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to produce deliverables on schedule
• Strong communication skills and professionalism when interacting with staff and patients
• Experience in medication safety, drug formularies, and controlled substances management

This contract requires working onsite in Alturas, CA, with a start date as soon as possible.
