We can't sponsor H1B.\n\nArcetyp LLC is looking for a Labor and Delivery RN to support the Government in Japan. This will be an on-site, in-office position with one position located in Yokosuka, Japan.\n\nPOSITION DUTIES:\n\nThe Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery) will provide nursing care to routine and high-risk Obstetricalpatients including newborns during the transition period within assigned inpatient unit based on relevantspecialty care standards.Work Schedule:\nPerform approximately 14–17 shifts per month, each lasting 12–16 hours.\nRotating day and night shifts on a quarterly basis.\nRequired to notify supervisor and charge nurse promptly in case of illness or emergency.\nMay be required to cover additional shifts due to staffing needs.\nMaximum of 16 hours per shift or 84 hours within a two-week period.\nRequired participation in on-call duties, including:\n\n24-hour call every other week.\nMust be able to arrive within 30 minutes if called in.\nOn-call compensation applies.\n\nRequired to work federal holidays and non-duty days as scheduled.\n\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS\n\nEstablish priorities of patient care based on triage, nursing diagnosis, essential patient needs andoutcomes.\nCollaborate with multi-disciplinary team in assessing the effectiveness of existing therapies andinterventions for patients with illnesses, their families and significant others.\nApply understanding and operation of specialty equipment. Maintain a safe patient careenvironment. Monitor and troubleshoot equipment assuring appropriate patient response. Provideintervention when indicated.\nEnsure upkeep, perform checks and maintain appropriate logs of medical equipment.Administer medications and IV therapy employing knowledge of pharmacological agents andblood/blood components, their indications, routes of administration, expected actions and potentialside effects, as related to specific patient population served. Manage complex central and peripheralintravenous lines/infusions.\nProvide recovery care for post-anesthesia patients following C-Sections, cerclage, tubal ligations, andspontaneous pregnancy loss.\nServe as a patient advocate and maintain patient’s right to confidentiality. Assist patients, families,and significant others in identifying limitations.\nProvide telephone advice based on clinical knowledge and accepted standards. Assist as needed inaccessing appropriate ambulatory/emergency care for beneficiaries.\nConsult and work collaboratively with social work and other ancillary services at the medical centerand in the community to aid patients in maintaining independence, dignity, and quality of life.\nEvaluate effectiveness of own performance and clinically direct and evaluate the clinical care provided by health team members.\nContribute to health care system and support clinical environment resulting in quality services andpositive patient outcomes.\nAssist management and staff to develop and implement standards of care in keeping with unit andcommand’s strategic patient care goals.\nDemonstrate clinical expertise and independent practice necessary to function as a resource formedical and nursing personnel and mentor to staff. Provide clinical consultation and participate inproblem-solving efforts of nursing staff, medical staff and other disciplines.\nConduct and participate in patient bedside rounds with care team, patient care conferences anddischarge planning.\nAssess and address the learning needs of patients and families, as well as, cultural and spiritualneeds, individualizing each plan of care to meet patients’ specific needs.\nParticipate in formal patient education and development of patient education materials.Monitor patient responses to medications/procedures/treatments and provide timely, accurate, andconcise documentation, manually and/or by use of computer.\nPerform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm,informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.\nAssist in the development, application and monitoring of clinical pathways as directed by governmentsupervisor.\nAssist with the development of programs that comply with all regulatory agencies and Joint Commission requirements with a focus on CI, professional practice, and patient care/teaching.\nCoordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of high quality, safeand cost effective care.\nEnsures compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established UnitOperating Instructions (which follow national guidance from AWHONN, American College ofObstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), MedicalGroup Instructions, and Air Force Instructions used in the medical treatment facility. Provides carewithin ethical and legal boundaries.\nProvides appropriate patient assessment skills.\nAccountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill levelutilizing the nursing process as a basis for professional practice.\nSets up, operates, and monitors specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, PCApumps, vital sign machines, electronic fetal monitoring, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygenanalyzers, nebulizers, ultrasound, emergency transport and other unit-specific equipment.\nRecognizes adverse signs and symptoms and reacts quickly in emergency situations.\nMakes referral appointments and arranges specialty care, as applicable.\nCompletes orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with unit guidelines.\nServes and participates in committees, functions and other meetings as directed. Provides relevantand timely information to these groups and assists with decision making and process improvement.\nParticipates in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities designed to enhancehealth services.\nPerforms sterile vaginal examinations, speculum examinations, and diagnostic procedures viaelectronic fetal monitoring and tocometer.\nPrepares patients for surgery, ultrasound, amniocentesis, or other prescribed medical procedures.\nProvides critical care and evaluation of patients.\nDevelops nursing care plans, performs care as outlined in clinical pathways, and standing order sets.\nProvides and documents individual and family education.\nPrepares sterile supplies, non-sterile supplies, and ensures required equipment is present and readyfor use.\nAdjusts equipment as required. Reports all problems to the Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge(NCOIC) and works with maintenance service technicians to address problems.\nChecks the operating parameters of the equipment each time before the equipment is used.\nDevelops and monitors quality improvement programs with peer reviews, staff education, chartreviews, and statistics.\nPerforms telephone consults, triage, and other necessary administrative tasks as required\nMaintain knowledge of how to provide nursing care from a multi-disciplinary continuum, from normalphysiological changes to a wide variety of disease processes that may complicate the ante-partum,intra-partum or postpartum stages of pregnancy, the immediate care of the newborn and have avaried knowledge in women’s health issues and the physiological changes in the normal life cycle.\nMaintain knowledge of the variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desiredeffects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of thepharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required.\nMaintain knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’scondition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.\nMaintain knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, dataentry and automated medical records.\nMaintain knowledge of effective communication and collaboration with the health care team, both inoral and written form.\nMaintain knowledge of synthesizing data from a variety of sources to make appropriate clinicaldecisions.\nPatient Care. The general scope of work under this contract includes performing services in thefollowing patient care areas:\n\nAntepartum\nLabor & Delivery\nPostpartum\nNeonatal via Rooming-In or Nursery\nObstetric Triage\n\nThe provider shall prepare all medical documentation to meet or exceed the standards requiredunder AFI 46-101 Nursing Services and Operations, Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric andNeonatal Nurses (AWHONN), applicable Air Force Instructions and the Joint Commission guidelines.Only approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of care in the health care record. TheDepartment of Defense’s electronic medical record systems, AHLTA (outpatient), Composite HealthCare System (CHCS) and Essentris (inpatient), shall be used for all patient encounters.\nMaintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services.Adhere to and comply with the Department of the Air Force, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, andlocal instructions and notices in effect during the term of the contract.\nPractice aseptic techniques as necessary; comply with infection control guidelines to include theproper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use of universal precautions toprevent the spread of infection.\nFunction with an awareness and application of safety procedures.\nApply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in areduced risk manner.\nExercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights, as identified within the MTF.\nMaintain an awareness of responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.\nMaintain DoD email account as directed by government supervisor.\nExercise appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health careteam members, patient care, and clinic activities.\nEach HCW providing service under this contract or resultant task orders shall undergo an orientationand shall complete mandatory Air Force, and DoD on-line training as required.\n\nNECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:\n\nAbility to perform a full range of medical services consistent with professional licensure.Be able to comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, Department of Defense,Department of the Air Force, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and MTF instructions and policies.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, andOutlook\nBe capable of performing a full range of medical services commensurate with the professional licenseheld.\nFluently and proficiently read, write, speak and understand the English language.\nThe HCW must be able to provide contract company with proof of being able to fluently andproficiently read, write, speak and understand the English language if English is not the contractor’sfirst language.\nKnowledge across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, neonatal care, and women’s health.\nPharmacological knowledge including dosage calculations and medication management.\nDocumentation standards consistent with Air Force and Joint Commission requirements.\nProficiency with electronic medical records systems (AHLTA, CHCS, Essentris).\nEffective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration.\n\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nMinimum two (2) years of experience as an inpatient labor and delivery nurse required.Certifications:\n\nAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)\nNeonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)\nIntermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN)\nBasic Life Support (BLS)\nEmergency Clinical Obstetrics (ECO) and STABLE certification required within 30–90 duty days ofarrival\n\nExperience with postpartum and newborn nursery highly recommended.\nAll relevant experience should be within the last four (4) years.\nExperience aligned with Level 1 Labor and Delivery (ACOG maternal care reference level) highlyrecommended.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nA thorough understanding of the military lifestyle and experience working with military familymembers.\nWorking knowledge of relevant military, state, federal, and local laws and resources.\nHighly developed written, oral, and presentation communication skills.\nExperience with postpartum and newborn nursery is highly recommended.\nHave a work experience for Level 1 Labor and Delivery, American College of Obstetricians andGynecologists (ACOG) for reference level of maternal care is highly recommended.\n\nMin.
