Registered Nurse I - Cardiac Progressive - Intensive Care

Job Summary The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. Unit Focus Structural heart procedures Recovering patients treated in the cath lab Electrophysiology interventions Advanced diagnostic heart failure treatments Acute MI/Non‑STEMI Treating arrhythmias Managing ventilators and BiPap Cardiogenic and septic shock Shift 7:00p.m. – 7:00a.m. (night shift) Minimum Education Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Valid multi‑state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License. Work Experience 0–6 months related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of general disease‑state management processes, bio‑psychosocial model, and clinical pathways. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. Attention to detail required in the examination of clinical and numerical data. Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to care for patients. Assess, organize, and complete patient care with consideration for age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Document steps of the nursing process accurately. Employ proper medical terminology. Address problems and monitor progress toward goals. Facilitate patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and patient education resources, tailored to age and cultural factors. Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate. Support unit and hospital goals through participation in pre‑intervention (PI) and educational activities, including attending in‑services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. Decision Making Exercise independent judgment in making decisions among many diversified alternatives subject to general review in final stages only. Working Relationships Coordinate activities of others (does not supervise). Lead others in the same work performed (does not supervise). Contribute input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give them. Work directly with patients and/or customers. Interact with internal customers via telephone or face‑to‑face interaction. Interact with external customers via telephone or face‑to‑face interaction. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff. Frequent interaction with individuals at director level or above. Special Job Dimensions None.
