Senior Purchaser

Responsibilities Senior Purchaser is regionally responsible for managing suppliers in North America, collaborating with global colleagues to procure competitive solutions for Vestas and our customers. Work with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-performing procurement strategies while improving cost, quality and on-time delivery. Direct the procurement strategy for the Service Crane category and act as the crane services procurement subject matter expert to support turbine repair, maintenance, and special projects. Manage and represent global initiatives at the RPO level. Lead the RFP process from specification development, quote process, supplier selection, contract development, stakeholder management and business awards. Collaborate with key local and global stakeholders (construction, sales, project management, engineering, quality, legal, supply chain) to optimize scope and cost competitiveness. Attend weekly sales management calls and translate potential contracts into procurement activities. Provide weekly updates on contract status and future projects to align stakeholders with customer expectations. Interpret technical specifications and develop business cases with total cost of ownership analyses to enable decisions based on technical requirements. Directly manage new and existing regional supplier relationships, leverage internal stakeholder and category relationships to build global supplier partnerships, and professionally manage strategic purchasing initiatives with reporting materials (presentations, business cases, etc.). Build supplier market intelligence and ensure supply base data supports business decisions. Implement and manage all aspects of supplier development, contracting, and buy-to-pay processes, including risk management. Serve as primary escalation point for scope-related supplier issues and guide change with suppliers to meet Vestas requirements. Mentor other Purchasers in RPO and collaborate with cross-functional teams including internal, external, domestic, and international stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor degree in global supply chain management, engineering, or related business studies. 5+ years of experience in procurement or related supply chain field. Experience building business cases or procurement strategies for categories, commodities, or business units. Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.). Advanced contract management experience and negotiation experience in supplier engagements. Industry experience in renewables, energy, or manufacturing environments is desirable. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills; solution-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities. Cross-cultural skills; ability to prioritize under tight deadlines. Strong business acumen (financial statements, cash flow, EBIT, inventory). Critical thinking and ability to deliver presentations and business cases. Ability to lead cross-functional teams; aptitude for construction, transport of large goods, or technical concepts (reading drawings, machining, forging, etc.). Self-motivated with the ability to identify opportunities and make sound decisions. Strategic purchasing experience (not limited to operational procurement). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with SAP and other software; knowledge of commercial contracts (Master Service Agreements and Project-specific agreements). Excellent written and oral communication in English; ability to convey technical and non-technical information clearly. Experience in identifying cost-reduction opportunities and implementing cost-out initiatives. Ability to work flexible hours across various time zones and collaborate with international teams. Ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams with internal and external stakeholders.
