Allied Technician - Respiratory Therapist

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

This position involves providing pulmonary care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill patients in adult, pediatric, and neonatal categories under physician direction and with minimal supervision. The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing patient assessments and implementing respiratory care plans, along with conducting various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the hospital settings.

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to emergency situations, including Code Blue and Code White.
  • Manage airways, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
  • Administer and monitor aerosolized drugs.
  • Set up and operate ventilators.
  • Oversee oral hygiene and airway retaining device placement and maintenance.
  • Manage airway support devices such as BiPAP and CPAP.
  • Deliver oxygen and conduct therapeutic monitoring.
  • Perform chest film analysis, blood gas collection and analysis, and EKG analysis.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient care.
  • Maintain and stock equipment and supplies as required.
  • Participate in ongoing surveys and assessments.
Advanced Practice Skills May Include:
  • Therapeutic gas management and monitoring.
  • Pulmonary function testing.
  • Assisting in bronchoscopies.
  • Hemodynamic monitoring and waveform analysis.
  • Nocturnal SpO2 evaluation and desaturation studies.
  • Polysomnography and transport duties.
Job Requirements:
  • Education: Must meet licensing and certification requirements.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience preferred, with adult ICU experience required.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • RT or RCP License in state of employment.
    • BLS certification required via AHA.
    • ACLS certification required.
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required.
    • Critical care experience accepted for CRTs.
Work Schedule:
  • Night shifts: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM.
  • Floating between multiple locations within the region.
  • Weekend and holiday requirements: every other weekend and holidays.

The Registered Respiratory Therapist may serve as a shift leader or in a team leader capacity as needed.
