About the OpportunityA growing industrial manufacturer is seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Technician to serve as the facility's automation expert. This individual will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, programming, and improving automated manufacturing equipment while supporting overall plant reliability and production efficiency.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on electrical maintenance, PLC programming, controls troubleshooting, and continuous improvement projects.ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and repair automated production equipment to minimize downtimeProgram, modify, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley preferred; Siemens experience is a plus)Diagnose electrical control systems including:Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)Servo motors and motion control systemsHMIsSensors and instrumentationIndustrial networkingSupport automation upgrades and new equipment installationsPerform electrical troubleshooting up to 480V three-phase systemsRead and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel drawingsAssist with preventative and predictive maintenance initiativesIdentify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and efficiencyWork closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams on process improvementsMaintain accurate maintenance documentation and work ordersQualifications3+ years of industrial automation, controls, or electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipmentWorking knowledge of:Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, or PLC-5)Siemens PLCs (preferred)HMIsVFDsServo systemsIndustrial electrical systemsAbility to read electrical schematics and ladder logicStrong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skillsComfortable working independently on automation issuesPreferred QualificationsExperience editing PLC's/making significant code modificationsExperience with industrial robotics or vision systemsFamiliarity with Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Profinet, or other industrial communication protocolsExperience with CMMS softwareAssociate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)What We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate is a hands-on automation professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems and improving manufacturing processes.
