Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre‑employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Job Description The District of Arizona is composed of approximately 180 Assistant United Attorneys (AUSA) spread across offices in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, and Flagstaff. Because of its size and location, the District faces unique geographical challenges and resource demands, including a 375‑mile border with Mexico and one of the most robust Indian Country dockets in the country. As a result, the office’s charging figures are consistently among the highest of all United States Attorney’s Offices. AUSAs hired in the District of Arizona have the immediate opportunity to represent the United States of America in the United States District Court. The positions currently being filled will investigate and prosecute cases involving illegal immigration, drug trafficking, human smuggling, and support to cartels and transnational criminal organizations designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs). Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as training and experience progress. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree and be an active member of the bar in any U.S. jurisdiction. United States citizenship is required. Applicants must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement. Benefits The range of basic pay is $76,748 to $180,078, including Yuma locality pay.
