Web Engineer III

Web Software Engineer IIIonX is seeking a Web Software Engineer III who will contribute to meaningful, real-world outcomes that have a lasting impact for customers and the business. In this role, you'll build and scale experiences for hunters as part of the Hunt team. You'll support onX's goal of delivering a best-in-class Hunt experience from onboarding through the season. You'll take ownership of your work, collaborate closely with partners across the organization, and help move initiatives forward in an environment where priorities evolve, learning is celebrated, and you're encouraged to keep stretching your skills. This role will report to an Engineering Manager.Essential Job Duties & Functions:Build, support, and evolve our web products for hunters using technologies like TypeScript, Vue, GraphQL (Apollo Client), and MapboxOwn technical solutions from ideation through delivery, collaborating in decisions about architecture, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainabilityPartner with Product, Design, QA, and engineers across teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality customer experiences and navigate cross-team dependenciesRun and instrument A/B tests and feature rollouts using Split, Eppo, and Amplitude, to measure impact and make data-informed decisionsRaise the quality bar through design reviews, mentorship, and frontend best practices across teamsMonitor production health and participate in triaging and resolving incidents affecting web experiencesWrite unit and end-to-end tests using Jest, Vitest, Cypress, and/or PlaywrightLook for opportunities to embed AI as a repeatable co-pilot in daily workflows by integrating experimentation into real work, and continuously refining its use with sound judgment and validation.What You'll Bring:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.Four (4) or more years of professional software development experience is required, where at least two (2) years were focused on web client developmentYou have a strong foundation in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and browser fundamentalsExperience with modern web frontend frameworks such as Vue, React, or AngularExperience working with REST APIs and/or Apollo Client with GraphQLExperience writing unit tests with Jest or VitestA strong sense of ownership and a get stuff done attitudeA willingness to collaborate, provide and receive mentorship, and advocacy for the customer experienceWillingness to flex across and contribute to platforms outside of Web, such as mobile clients or backend, when team priorities require itA strong curiosity for exploring new technologies, including AIA shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX's Company Values.Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.Ability to travel on occasion for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp.Added Bonuses:Experience with TypeScript and VueFamiliarity with experimentation and analytics tooling - e.g., Split/Eppo, client event instrumentation with AmplitudeExperience with Mapbox or other mapping toolsExperience across other platforms (mobile and backend)Familiarity with caching using Apollo Client for GraphQLExperience writing end-to-end tests with Playwright or CypressThe Onx Experience:onX is a distributed company with more than 400 employees across the country. For this position, we are open to considering candidates ranging in two levels (level II and level III). Spanning these levels, applicants can expect to make between $130,000 - $153,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description.
