Overview The San Diego Unified School District seeks a Police Dispatcher to receive, evaluate, and act upon emergency and non‑emergency telephone and radio calls; dispatch and monitor appropriate personnel; monitor safety equipment; and maintain logs using a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. Vacancy Details Working Location: School Police Services, 4100 Normal Street, San Diego, CA 92103 Work Schedule: 12 months per year, 40 hours per week Salary: Grade 022, POA Salary Schedule ($32.37–$43.38 per hour) Positions 20 hours per week or greater qualify for District‑paid health and wellness benefits. Bilingual (English/Spanish) positions qualify for a 5% differential; candidate will be invited to a qualifying performance test. Minimum Qualifications Three years of customer service experience in a demanding, fast‑paced environment requiring multitasking and independent judgment, OR a combination of training and experience equivalent to successful completion of the P.O.S.T. Certified Dispatcher Basic Academy. Recent paid civilian or military radio dispatching, public emergency information systems, or law enforcement experience is highly desirable. Licenses and Other Requirements Pass a P.O.S.T. Certified Dispatcher Basic Academy within one year of employment. Complete the Communications Training Officer (CTO) program within 636 hours after beginning training. Typing/keyboarding certificate at a net, corrected speed of at least 30 words per minute. Pass a computerized skills assessment test. Clear background, polygraph, credit, chemical, medical, and psychological testing.
