About the Role

We are seeking a CNC & Manual Machinist III who wants to work in a multi-discipline, engineering-focused environment. This position supports both our CNC Machining Division and our Automation Division, giving you exposure to machining, automated equipment components, assembly, and real-world problem solving.

This is not a repetitive production role. Every day brings new parts, new challenges, and opportunities to develop new skills.

The CNC & Manual Machinist III will set up and operate Haas CNC mills and lathes, perform manual machining on ProtoTRAK mills and lathes, assist with custom automation equipment when needed, and modify components to improve fit, function, and performance.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Haas equipment, strong set-up skills, and the ability to work in a short-run, job shop environment. Mastercam experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who has strong G-code and M-code knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Haas CNC mills and lathes for short-run machining
• Perform manual machining on ProtoTRAK mills and lathes
• Machine prototype parts, one-off components, and low-volume production parts
• Assist with the assembly and modification of custom automated equipment
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and machining documentation
• Perform your own setups and take responsibility for part accuracy
• Inspect parts using precision measurement tools
• Complete inspection reports when required
• Collaborate with engineering, automation, and assembly teams to solve machining and fitment challenges
• Modify components to improve machine performance, fit, or function
• Use general toolroom equipment, including saws, presses, surface grinders, and related equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Workload Breakdown

• 50% CNC setup and machining on Haas mills and lathes
• 40% Mastercam programming and CNC programming support
• 10% manual machining and ProtoTRAK mill/lathe operation

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with manual mills and lathes
• 4+ years of CNC training, programming, code writing, or code modification experience
• Ability to perform your own setups and take ownership of part accuracy
• Haas CNC mill and lathe experience preferred
• Mastercam experience preferred; training available for candidates with strong G-code and M-code experience
• Experience with fixturing, workholding, and custom machine components
• Strong knowledge of tooling, cutting tools, metals, and machining methods
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and assembly drawings
• Understanding of fitment tolerances, including press fits, slip fits, and related mechanical fits
• Knowledge of workholding methods, devices, and best setup practices
• Experience with general toolroom equipment, including saws, presses, surface grinders, and similar equipment
• Mechanically intuitive with strong problem-solving skills
• Willingness to learn new technologies, equipment, and disciplines
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
