Requisition ID : 19161 Employment Type : Full Time Job Category : Warehouse/Distribution Job Grade: Exempt 13 Work Location : Chicopee, MA - Grind Shop BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY The Manufacturing Supervisor position requires an individual that will direct and coordinate the activities and personnel of an assigned department and will be responsible for the overall production of high‑quality machine tool cutters. This individual will train, mentor, schedule work and oversee the overall efficient production of precision cutting tools. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides day‑to‑day leadership in the grinding department. Coordinates and directs activities of hourly personnel to produce cutters that meet, or exceed, our functional and quality requirements. Promotes and directs activities to reduce waste and increase on‑time delivery. Directs hourly associates in proper conduct, consistent with work practices, and plant rules. Schedules and distributes work to subordinate personnel. Provides and schedules resources for On the Job Training (OJT) as required. Set up open machines as required. Provides technical support where subordinates are unfamiliar with aspects of work or machine setup. Creates and debugs new programs developed on CAM (Simulation software) as/or if required. ? Produces as required, shop floor inspection processes. Produces inspection mylars as required. Operates production equipment as required. Spot checks work of subordinate machinist (Q/A spot checks). Reviews and revises manufacturing processes as required, includes collaborating with other grinding departments for the development of accurate and efficient manufacturing methods. Collaborates with vendors to troubleshoot unexpected equipment issues. Collaborate with manager during annual review and corrective action process Creates estimates (Quote new jobs) Promotes and directs good safety and environmental housekeeping practices on the shop floor Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose. Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required QUALIFICATIONS What You Need High School diploma or the equivalent is required. Five years of experience in manufacturing or manual cutter grinding applications, welding, or CNC as required. Possess an understanding of all the manufacturing equipment on the shop floor. Good time management and organizational skills required. Good verbal and written skills required. Bonus Points If You Have Trade school in precision machining is a plus. Two‑year associates degree is a plus. Experience in CNC programming, i.e. ANCA simulation software is a plus, as applicable. Some Microsoft office (Word, Excel). Operate AutoCAD LT software (willing to train as required), as applicable. Experience in utilizing ERP systems (Job Boss), as applicable. AS400 experience as applicable. Other Requirements: A valid driver's license may be required. Position requires up to 5% of travel. This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (ITAR) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information CUI. Compensation starting at $71000 - $82000 depending on experience. The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
