Production Supervisor

In this role, you will have the responsibility and authority to assess the status of the production area and take action as defined in documents such as controlled plans and work instructions. This role involves interaction with employees at all levels of the organization, internal and external customers, and outside contacts. Supervisory responsibilities include training and developing team members, delegating work assignments, conducting performance appraisals, coaching, counseling team members, and administering disciplinary procedures.

Responsibilities

1. Supervise and direct the work activity of team members in the assigned area.
2. Effectively grow future key employees and leaders.
3. Distribute workload appropriately and motivate and empower team members.
4. Develop team members, including creating and executing individual development plans.
5. Train and mentor team members in root cause analysis and PDCA.
6. Identify continuous improvement opportunities and eliminate waste in assigned departments.
7. Champion Lean Kaizen events to identify cost and time savings.
8. Perform root cause analysis and participate in cost-reduction programs.
9. Coordinate new product launches with Engineering.
10. Develop and deploy standardized work instructions for assigned departments.
11. Ensure process stability through following standardized work.
12. Conduct improvement events in the department, resulting in measurable improvements in unit time and part flow.
13. Drive measurable cost reduction through improved processes and training.
14. Perform capacity analysis using build plans and determine staffing requirements.
15. Ensure departmental productivity targets are met to meet customer requirements.
16. Troubleshoot scheduling and material issues.
17. Ensure quality standards are met, focusing on continuous improvement to enhance manufacturing capability and reduce rework and scrap.
18. Contain sources of quality issues and coordinate corrective action activities.
19. Promote and enforce compliance with safety policies and procedures.
20. Conduct safety investigations and audits, addressing safety non-compliance.
21. Partner with HR to ensure equitable experiences and promote a culture of inclusivity and belonging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Materials Process Engineering.
• 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Solid understanding and experience with concepts associated with Kaizen and Lean principles.
• Ability to assess the overall health of a department or value stream through data correlation and direct observation.
• Capability to identify and implement effective improvement plans based on analysis.
• Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to provide alternate solutions.
• Knowledge of multiple leadership approaches and the ability to apply the appropriate approach to building individual and team success.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Ability to effectively work with people in a team environment and at various levels of the organization.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
